2.3 needs more power

Why does that exist!?!
Now that you have seen it, it is forever burned into your memory banks.
You will now and forever ask yourself, "why didn't I think of that".
Can't you just envision that blower stickin out of that hole in your hood that you cut out with a pair of tin snips ?
That beautiful throttle body just scooping up every bug that gets in its way.
That is true "engineering" !!!

Idk what ya'll are complaining about, mine isn't going to look much different.

I'd drive it.

I hope you'll be able to overcome having to use 2 belts wire-tied together to turn the blower.

Ok, didn't notice that part ?
Thats true "shadetree" engineering. If one is good, than two must be better.
Wire-ties prevent one belt from slipping against the other.

Kinda sounds like your just shifting to fast. 3.73 works well with a manual because you can hold the gears longer. The automatics usually got 4.10s
well it sounds like its screeching after about 3k rpm, it sounds like top end but i'm not sure what it would be, https://photos.app.goo.gl/My9453sKBuFmTMH1A here is a video of it, alternator shaking isnt the problem because i re tightened the bolts

I can't hear the video because kids wont shut up. But anyone else see an issue with that belt or is it just me? It looks too tight or something, its deforming alot. But may just be the video.

Anywhoozle... definitely shouldn't be any screeching at 3k. Hows the timing belt a d tensioner looking? Will it screech in park just revving it or only while driving?

whenever it gets past that rpm it will screech, doesnt matter what gear im in, and that video was before i re tightened the bolts for the alternator bracket, but it still makes that noise, ill check the timing belt tensioner when i get home

Let the engine get cold. Pull the belt off, start it and rev it to 3k. Itll be fine running with no belt for a moment. If theres still a creech you can rule out the problem being the serpentine belt or any of the accessories.

Alright, ill do that

People have made amazing power with the 2.3... but not "cheap". If you want real power your talking about turbo, porting the head, new cam, higher compression pistons, stroking it a bit etc. In its stock form it is what it is. A good reliable economy motor.

The "cheap" stuff like cold air intakes and headers dont do squat.

You’re 100 percent correct back in the day my brother wanted to build his 2.3, turbo you name it. But it was just so expensive to do and parts aren’t easy to get. Considering my big turbo fiesta makes 310whp, for about 3000 dollars all in. It’s easier just to swap in a 5.0 IMO

I learned that the hard way. I had over $1400 in an N/A 2.3 and it runs so much better with $500 in a 302. If I still had the $1400 to spend on the SB then holy cow it would really run.

Yeah I had $1500 into just a stock rebuild on my 2.3. Totally different purpose...just a run around daily driver was all but I'd have dropped a V8 into it if I wasn't pressed for time. I have a real soft spot for 2.3's but they get stupid expensive really fast.
