2.3 N/A engine build

I haven't read all the posts on here, but I will say I have seen many people on this site not know what's up with these motors.
170 HP is a very reachable, while still driveable goal. It is common for people on here to tell you to swap it, or turbo it, because its easier. But you can do a good NA build decently cheap.
That being said, PM me and I will go into detail on the things you can do, I will need to know what kind of budget you are wanting to stick to.

When swapping in a 2.5 crank can all the 2.3 parts be used like the crank pulley and rods or do I need all of that from the 2.5 motor. I was wondering is there any good detailed write ups on doin a 2.5 crank swap? I'd search myself but my free time is very limited right now.

I did this with my truck, the 2.5 rods are 5.4" center to center, and the 2.3 rods are 5.2" c-c. 2.3 rods will not work. I found a wrecked 1999 ranger, took the rods, pistons, crank, and even the bearings. I don't know what year your truck is, but any 8 plug 2.3 has the small main journals and a 2.5 crank will drop right in.

The 2.5 has 7mm more stroke than a 2.3. I haven't done it myself, bit I highly doubt there is 7mm of extra clearance above the pistons on a 2.3.

2.3: stroke 3.126", rod center to center 5.205", piston pin height 1.583"

2.5: stroke 3.401", rod center to center 5.457", piston pin height 1.211"

So you need the crank, rods, and pistons for a 2.5 conversion, the crankshaft drops right in to the 1989, and newer 2.3 block. The 1988, and earlier blocks have bigger main bearing bores so you need these special bearing spacers http://www.needhp.com/ford23bearingspacers-smalljournalcrankinalargejournalblock.aspx so the 2.5 crank can fit.
