Is the 2.3 mustang motor the same as the ranger? :icon_confused:1988 Mustang to 1993 Ranger.

Basically, but the Ranger motor had a twin plug head and the Mustang kept the single plug head as I recall.

So the block and the alt. starter and such are the same then.

Should be, but I can't say for sure. AllanD would know for sure.

The Ranger got the DPIS2.3 starting in 1989 and Mass Air in 1990.
The Mustang didn't get the dual plug engine until mid year 1990

There are differences in the bottom end

Not the least of which is that the block is not drilled for the crank trigger pickup for the DPIS/EDIS that the dual plug engine requires.

And locating that pickup EXACTLY is kinda important.
