I was told that the 2.5 liter motor has twin cams and a timing chain vs.the 2.3 having a timing belt.My question is, is the 2.5 motor a more complexe engine to work on than the 2.3L.And is there any major problems to lookout for in the 2.5L motor.

The 2.5 is pretty similar to the 2.3 in terms of workability. It's actually a bit more reliable than the 2.3 since timings chains don't tend to break the same way belts do.
The 2.5 doesn't have a timing chain....![]()
In mid-year 2001, they came out with an all new 2.3 which is DOHC and has a timing chain. They are all reliable and long lasting engines.
I wouldn't attempt to find a 2.5 over a 2.3... It's not a significant increase in hp... Either one is still slow...
its a good increase in torque adn its deff faster than the 2.3I wouldn't attempt to find a 2.5 over a 2.3... It's not a significant increase in hp... Either one is still slow...
slow my ass, my 2.5 will run 102.

actually no, they won't be slower than a 4.0
all rangers are electronically governed, they all shut down at the exact same speed.
