2.3 L VS the 2.5L motor

I don't know about the Ranger with a Duratec 2.3, but I know for a damn fact if I lined my Ranger (4.0) up next to my Escape (Duratec 2.3), the Escape would eat it for lunch. It's really an impressive motor for it's size.

What automatic trans is behind the Duratec 2.3 Ranger? It mates very nicely with the CD4E in the Escape.

Now why couldn't Ford offer the newer Duratech 25 in the Ranger like they did in the Escape and Fusion? (besides the fact they killing off the Ranger line-up). The Duratech 25 makes more power than the Duratech 23 and still gets the same MPG. As for the older Lima 2.3 vs Lima 2.5, take the 2.5. Same engine as the 2.3, just stroked out to make a 2.5.

yeah im wondering the same, why didnt they make a ranger with the duratec25

There isn't anything stopping a swap. I believe the Duratec 25 is a stroked version of the Duratec 23. And if I'm not mistaken, the Duratec 25 makes almost as much horsepower as the 4.0. If not, more.

yeah but finding one with a manual tranny , and making it fit a Ranger with all the electronics wouldnt be funny LOL
