I asked in my other thread.. but since it that thread isn't working out well, I figured I'd ask my main question here.. If I got a set of Pacesetter headers for a 2.3 Ranger, would it fit on my 2.0 ranger?!
Heads will swap so yes, but I'm not sure about fitting the truck. Not sure if it'd be worth the price on an otherwise stock engine. I'd go with a '94-'95 Ranger factory "shorty" header for about $50.
I realize it may not add a whole lot of power, but I am mainly looking to delete the pipe/hose comming from the stock manifold. Does the 'factory shortys' have that or are the emissions free? I was kinda of looking at these pacesetters because of the long tube design and the extra grunt I could maybe see from them.. what do you think?
At $200 I'm sure you will not be happy. Grunt from a 2.0?!? (your funny). Think about it, if a header adds say 10%hp to an 89hp engine your still only at 98hp. That 10% advertised gain on most headers is most likely with all the other supporting mods...porting, cam, valves, intake. I'm not saying it won't add any power but what it does add will be barley noticeable if at all. A well tuned butt dyno will notice about a 10hp gain.
Thanks so much for the help guys! And Andres, I would but I just don't have the money at the moment plus I am not ready for them yet.. but if you still have them in the future, I'll send you a PM, okay?

Look @ the pics of the factory header, I took it to the muffler shop and they welded the egr tube shut .
And you can see the block off plate I made for the egr,it was real easy.
The only thing you need to worry about is if you have the egr holes under the exhaust ports on the head.
What I did was take a drill bit (I believe it was 5/16ths)and cleaned up the holes then I took a tap and tapped the holes then screwed in a short set screw and it worked great and I don't have to worry about them backing out cause the header flange covers the set screw about half way.
For some reason, I am having a lot of trouble understanding that.
The header in your pictures was off the later model 2.3L, correct?
If I DO have the holes that you were talking about, would I simply be able to plug them with the correct size bolts?
Also, is there a way to eliminate ALL of the egr stuff without getting a new carb? I would like my engine compartment to look exacly like yours, but with the O.E.M. carb (for now).
And would I be able to find a filter like that but for the stock carb anywhere (if you know of any)?
sorry about not being clear sometimes I have run on fingers.lol
yes its from a 94 mazda.
on the bottom of the header there is an egr pipe attaching bung. it sticks out so you can cut it off and weld it up or just weld it closed like I did.
when you take off the stock manifold you may have a hole under each exhaust port for the egr.
the header flange does not cover the holes so you need to plug the holes.
I tapped the holes and used a set screw to plug the holes.
I don't know what carb you have, if it is the aisin 2 barrel I wouldn't mess with it and I don't know about the 1 barrel.
as far as air cleaners go the one on my truck is only for the weber but you could always modify it to work.

here is a thought I just had;
I guess you might be able to make a pipe that goes from the header to the egr so it can still work
You can patch an egr pipe using whatever is left of the one from the 2.0 (I cut mine at the bend where it goes into the old 2.0 manifold) and a short piece from an EFI (like the ones on the shorty header if you can find one that doesn't crumple when you try to remove it)...
Or you can fab one up from the bung on the shorty header...I'm actually in the process of trying to reconnect mine to see if it makes any difference in my fuel consumption...but haven't found what I need to get it done yet (as in I threw out the pieces I was going to use and now can't find any at the junkyards)...
