Im thinking of putting some money into my little 5 speed 2.3 2wd to give it some long travel . Problem is most people tell me the 2.3 reall really sucks in the sand.

So my question is should I...(on a budget, rather have more suspension then speed but dont want to get too bored)
Leave it stock and suck it up
Turbo it?
4.o swap
v-8 swap
sell it and buy a 4.0

Like dunes, or the beach?

they do ok, just keep it in the power band when going through stuff that needs power, like 3-5000rpm which the engine won't care about...

Keep it geared appropriately for the tires, my turbo Ranger likes the sand, but the stiff lift coils don't help the high speed stuff.

Limited slip or a locker might not hurt.

It would be sand

Right now its only a 1 wheel wonder so that wold really suck

Gears.

I just went to 4.56 with a 235/75R15 tire, it's actually kinda eerie how well it works.

Keep the RPM's up and it should do pretty good.

thanks, im still debating on if I should start building this as im thinkign I should just buy one already mild built

Build it yourself. You will appreciate it more, have more fun with it, learn along the way, and then it will really be your truck.

I decided against building it my self once I made a price list. Im going to look for one already built.
