Ok so here is my problem. My catalytic converter is slowly falling apart. The heat shield is held on by hose clamps. It looks like it is not the original cat because there is a 2.0 to 2.5 inch adapter welded onto the pipe to fit the cat. Also it exits at 2.5. The pipe off of the manifold is a 2.0, I plan on redoing the whole exhaust to 2.0 inch. Would the 2.3 benefit from a higher flow catalyic converter or not? Also is 2.0 a good size for the whole system?

Cats are not the restriction most people think they are. The factory cat (or a direct fit replacement) will flow the same as a section of straight pipe the same diameter as the original exhaust.

So if you are going to do the whole thing in 2", which is probably the original size, then a high-flow cat will not do anything for you, as it will probably flow freer than the rest of the system.
