How hard would it be to swap out my carb 83' 2.3 for a dual plug injected 2.3 out of an 89' up?

Very

you would need all the wiring "under hood and dash" from the newer PLUS fuel lines, electric fuel pump, fuel tank, throttle cable and I'm thinkn the dash also?? I'd be patient and figure out what's up with yours short of NO compression I'd stick with yours.IMHO:icon_welder:

Yeah, it's a lot of work to go that route...or I would have done it myself...but I like the carb and the simplicity of everything...

It can, of course, be done...

Damn!! Really thinking about buying a whole truck and swapping the trans and all the 4x4 stuff into it. Mine is really irritating me. Tomorrow I'm tearing out every vacuum line, they are all leaking anyway. Then I'm gonna get the damn timing right.

I have an aftermarket carb, and I have two vacuum lines. One vacuum line is for the PCV, and one is for the distributor. If you really want FI, you can piece something together out of junkyard parts if you have the time. Check out megasquirt, they're great link

I think there are some diffs in the frames up in the front suspension area,I think you are doing the smart thing finding out were your problem lies with your setup and I'd definitely get a diff carb.:icon_thumby:

Do you mind taking a picture of your engine bay. Also what carb setup do you have?

I just took some pics of mine...may not be the best due to sunlight, but it shows the carb and other features...pardon the mess...haven't done my spring cleaning...
