does anyone know anything about a 2.3 4WD, that is my dream turck, specially a 5-spd, I have heard of them but have never seen one, do they exsist, i'd imagine they are pretty rare if they do

I've seen one going for $1,800. 1992 Ranger 4wd XLT, 2.3L, All manual, Short Cab/Short Bed. Would have made a real nice off-road machine. Had the 4.10 8.8 rear and D35 up front.

I would have bought it, only if I had the money. Interior was in good condition too.

I am pretty sure there is currently one for sale in the For Sale forums.

Yo,
I got one. They are less than common. But i would not call them rare.

I think a 4x4 4.0l is more rare than a 4x4 2.3l.

dream truck? Why exactly?

I went wheeling with a guy that had one. It has 31s and 4.10s. We were going up lost of rock shelves in a creek and he kept stalling the motor. A turbo isn't going to help that because you are at idle or just a slight kick above idle and using the clutch a lot when doing that type of work. Having a bigger motor, even if it isn't more powerful, generally gives you better torque right around idle where you need it.

For mud bogging or dunes I think a 2.3 turbo would be fun.

I agree there JohnnyU &Will.
Mine is under powered and slow as they come. Steep climbs and any where torque was needed it sucked with out alot of revving and slipping the clutch.

yeah but you can't beat the mileage and the toyota guys solution is a little thing called a doubler.with a doubler i've seen a toyota buggy snap my 30,000 pound recovery strap at idle(luckily not on my truck)!it's no tire smoker but lockers, doubler and 39's he don't need to waste money and gas on more cylinders

My milage wasn't great 15-18 MPG about hte same as the explorer and my other ranger witht the 2.8 and the BII I had with a 2.9
It is locked front and rear and crawls around nice. A double would help it alot.
