I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out what I need to do. I understand that this isn't a common motor, but people out there have bound to have done this swap.
I have a 2.2L Perkins diesel that was in a '84 Ranger. The motor originally was a 4 speed 2wd. The Ranger it was in rotted away long ago, but we pulled the motor and trans and have stored them. We're now trying to put transplant the motor into a new home, but want to make it 4wd at the same time. Has anyone successfully done this? I have a TK5 4wd trans and transfer case already. I had read somewhere on here, while doing research for this, that it was simply a matter of swapping the bellhousing to make a gas trans work on these diesels. Little did I know, however, the 2.2L trans has a non removable bellhousing, so now I'm back to square one. So, like I already asked, what can I do to make this project a reality? I know I'm not the only one that has tried to make one of these 2.2L into a 4wd.
