I'm planing on swapping my 2.0l carb for a 2.3l efi then maybe later a turbocharger. how easy is this? what parts do I need from the donor truck? Do I need different brackets?

And no I don't want to swap my 2.0l for a v6, I just want a little more power and good gas mileage.

if you plan on putting a turbo on the 2.3 you may have to upgrade your tranny but putting a turbo on a 2.3 N/A you can run 5psi of pressure saftly on the engine. But if your truck is 2wd then i would try to get and engine and tranny from a TC car and then the turbo setup will be easier. As far as fuel system goes just run the ford factory 44psi or the fuel system from a ranger with FI. A 2.3 will bolt to a 2.0 tranny.

Just go ahead and get a Turbocoupe motor... That way you can boost the piss out of it (exaggeration)... Stock Ranger pistons don't like much over 5psi (you could probbaly get more, but it would be easier with the forged setup)...

Well the problem is I live in a small town and its hard to come by a t-bird turbo coupe engine.

I dont think its worth putting the money into a turbo setup that will only be able to give the engine 5psi of boost, you could do a 4.0 swap and get more power out of it, ya I know a v-6 swap isnt what you want but will net you more power. But if you go the Turbo coupe engine then it would be worth it. Only thing is Im not sure what tranny you are running and how well it will like having a turboed engine attached to it, may get away with 5psi of boost with it but I just dont see much of an advantage with such low boost.

A 4.0, hell a 5.0 can get good mileage, just dependeds on how hard you push the skinny pedal to the floor and how you drive it.

Yea, big engine doesn't really mean low MPG numbers... My 5.0L Explorer gets better mileage (18-20ish combined) than my 4.0L did (between 15-17) ... Even gets almost the same as the 2.5L we have on the interstate (20/21 vs 24/25)... Just more power so the engine has to work harder... The 5.0L we have really will suck the gas if you put your foot into it... The 4.0L and 2.3L doesn't seem to matter how you drive, the 4.0L actually likes to be flogged...

So in your opinion what engine would get me the most power with the most mpg and easiest to swap. I have a 2.0l carb so efi I will have to swap everything and I have a manual 5 speed.
