Hey guys I currently have a 2.0L and am thinking of switching my lower block out for a 2.3. I want to use the 2.0L head on the 2.3L block. Is there anything I need to plug or are all the journals the same? Also what year block should I use?

Thanks guys.

Can that even be done?? Didn't think the blocks and heads were interchangeable... Uggg confused..

The tech page says they are.

Sure they are...but you want to keep it 94 or older if you want to use the distributor...the journals don't matter when you swap the heads...the lower end is essentially independent from the top end function in that regard

Sweet!!! Thanks Mark!!! I am looking to gain more horse power. So I figured I swap the blocks out.

A good block will only improve power comparatively to the older block if it is in better shape than the older block.

I went down the block swap road and it was better...compared to a block with loose rings and a hole in the number 1 piston. I achieved more power gains from head work and a better cam....plus a bit of shaving on the head. I think I sunk about $600 into the head but it was a big difference.

Unfortunately, power is a pricey thing to get...

I am willing pay for it. I have one guy lined up to port and polish my head and intake manifold and I might even have him rebuild the head. I have another lined up to do the exhaust. I am also replacing all the pulleys and getting a new wiring harness. I am taking the body off the frame first and painting the frame. It is going to be a long road but i am going to make sure it is done right this time.
