From what I can tell, the 2.0 and the 2.3 have the same block. Perhaps it's when you get into it that you begin to notice differences. Currently in my Ranger is a 2.0 carberated motor. I have a 2.3 fuel injected motor that I want to put in it due to a low end knock. The questions i have are as follows:

A: Will the transmission from the 2.0 line up to the block for the 2.3?

B: Will the head from the 2.0 fit on the 2.3?

C: Is there anything else I need to know about?

Thank you,
Tom

the blocks are the same the heads are differentthe 2.0 has smaller valves but should bolt up. you can use the whole 2.3 if the head ports are the same. I believe that the 2.3 ranger heads have the same ports. I could be wrong. it might also depend on the yr of the 2.3. I was also led to believe that the mustang head is different as well.
if it is a dual plug head you could always just not use the extra spark plugs.that could get you by if need be
