Hey guy, new here to the ranger world.

scored a decent 2004 4.0 4wd ranger with a auto trans.

plans are 2x6 rocker replacement/mini boat side, 1ton swap with a 3 link up front, and to keep it daily drivable…

if anybody has done any of this already feel free to drop some pictures and some info, definitely need help suspension wise

Man... something about doing that to an FX4 Level II just doesn't seem right to me. If it's in pretty good shape I would be looking for a different truck to mod out.

I think Mr Gump is correct, thinking you would need to strip it to the frame and weld it solid. adding extra bracing where possible. Build a tank under a large tin can
 
I actually meant that the FX4 Level II was the most powerful/capable Ranger Ford ever built. They're actually sought after. I just don't think I could do it to that truck.

It's a good lookin truck. Fine looking homes there too. I especially like that one across the road, and yes, welcome to TRS
 
I wouldn't hack into that, its clean and rare. Maybe a bolt on lift kit or accessories at most.

It would be generally easier anyways to start with something older, more simple, and more beat up.

I would just buy a one ton truck, but that's because I would rather run backwards through a corn field than take on another project, especially one of this magnitude.

There's quite a few SAS trucks on here though, a quick search should bring up all sorts of good info for you.
 
Never knew the FX for level two meant anything lol

i’ve had jeeps forever, then I got in the Diesel‘s for awhile, and I’ve always wanted an S-10 or ranger with full widths, three link boatsides and maybe a cage… and this fell into my lap.. think of it as a daily driven truggy

can you ever have too many projects???

I don't know why the Arcola wheels were painted, but there will be lots on here willing to take them and the rear axle off your hands (it should have Torsen differential, and some other nice bits). Does it have manual transfer case?

As noted, its not the truck I'd start with for a project, but...
 
They did offer those Alcoa wheels in like a carbon color at some point. I'm not convinced they're really painted.

How much would it take to just buy that truck from you @great-white ?
 
I guess they were painted gray Alcoa from the factory...
