My stock tach reads considerably higher than it should with this 4.0, does anyone know if there is some sort of resistor I can add in or something else than would make it read correctly? I don't want an aftermarket tach since I have a factory one.

What model is the 4.0 out of, and which wire do you have the tach connected to?:)shady

94 4.0 out of a sploder sport. Tan/Yellow wire in the 4.0 harness is connected to a DarkGreen/Yellow wire in the B2 harness.

The EDIS (and waste spark) is going to make it read wrong. 1st gens didn't have either of those. They tripped off the coil primary wire.

That makes sense, is there anyting I can do to make it work? I have wide assorment of electronic parts like resitors and such, at work.

can you get the sploder tach to fit behind your instument panel with the old school face on it?

Nah, they're way different. **** it, I'll buy an aftermarket, will any aftermarket tach work or will the EDIS and waste spark mess with that too?

The Tach wire from my EDIS is connected to the tach wire on my 1987 Ranger

I swapped a 1993 4.0 Explorer engine into my '87.

My tach works perfectly and I didn't do anything other than connect it.
