I'm using Rick's ranger plates and 4.0 mounts for my swap.now my question is the 2.3l brackets that bolts to engine crossmember currently on my 87 ranger. are those removed and the 4.0l mounts bolts right to the crossmember? Or do I still use the oem brackets as well?

The 4.0 mounts should go in the same holes as the 2.3 holes..... thats how I did it.

With no bracket correct?right to crossmember?it looks like my brackets may not be needed on mine just wanted to make sure.the alignment pins line up to crossmember perfectly.id have to drill an alignment pin hole to brackets for these to work.

This is the mounts directly to the crossmember no brackets.does this look correct to u?the threads point straight up perfectly straight.

Can u send me a close pic of your mounts in your truck?.im assuming the holes the mounts line up on my truck now r the v6 2.8l 2.9l holes if they don't use bracket's and use just crossmember

4.0 mounts bolt directly to the cross member. You will need to cut the alignment pins off of the mounts for the plates to fit.

Not the pins that go into the crossmember just the pin on the top

Did you buy the ricks ranger plates? If so they are slotted you need to center the engine and transwhen you get it in. put the plates on the engine leave them kinda loose, then when your hoist is still hooked up you need to make sure the motor and trans are in straight like this. | not / or \ that part of the drive line need to be as straight as possible.

The top pins only not the bottom ones correct?any idea if the plates I'm using will line up if I bolt it directly to crossmember not to the 2.3l mounting plates

[/QUx the bottoms pins over hang on the oem brackets I'd have to cut top and bottom ones off for me to use bracket's if went that route.it looks like ramcharger didn't use the brackets on his from what pic looks like

Cut the top pins off the 4.0 mounts......

These plates are adjustable bolt them loosely to the engine block.

Brah......
There should be nothing oem 2.3 engine mount or other wise on this truck......

Take those oem 2.3 mounts and throw them in the trash.

Take the ricks plate and bolt them to the bottom of the engine.....

Got it.your not using the brackets correct?the pic looks like the passenger side doesn't have the bracket.

I get it!m not sure u know what I'm saying.

Are referring to that rusted chuck of metal lying in the center of your crossmember in your pictures? If so..... Throw it out.....
