1st gen a/c into 2nd gen?

I may have the opportunity to pick up a complete a/c setup off a 83 ranger with the 2.8 motor for free. My ranger is a 91 with the 4.0. I assume the a/c compressor will not work, but what about the condensor, heater box, controls, etc?

I think I've heard the evaporator cores are the same, but probably not much else (I know the condensers cross over to a different pt# after '89). With the dash being different, I don't see the controls being the same either, but I don't know 100% for sure.
