I’ve searched and found nothing on 1st Gen models and think I am figuring out the answer myself but wanted to ask the forum in case anyone has any info. I am in the process of trying to install a custom CAÍ onto my ‘87 2WD but there are a lot of lines coming in and out of the stock air box. Most importantly the IAC Valve is mounted directly to the stock air box with a separate hose to the throttle body. It seems all future years have the IAC directly mounted to the throttle body or very near it. For this reason it seems it would be very complicated to install a CAÍ…
Maybe you mount the stock box in a lower location and only leave the IAC on it and the smaller air line and then use the CAÍ for the main intake but that seems kinda dumb and problematic.
My main reason for a CAÍ is to clean up the engine bay. I am already relocating the battery to the back of the truck so that is not an issue. Any improvement in sound is welcome but I’m not expecting HP gains. Just trying to clarify my intentions….
