Thanks for taking my question.

I have a 1999 Ford Ranger (Automatic Trans & 4 Wheel Drive).While driving
I took notice that my transmission feels like it is slipping. The following happened.

ABS Light is on
OD is Off - Light is on
I feel a slip and is feels like it is disengaging.
My speedometer quits working and then starts again.

Any ideas what the problem could be

Yes. Replace the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) on top of the rear axle pumpkin.

It's a cheap part (<$20), held in with one bolt. It gives you the speedometer signal and WILL affect your automatic transmission shifts and ABS.

There is also a chance that it is an electrical connection problem. Many have found water got into the large square connector located directly beneath the driver seat, under the cab. Clean it out, connect/reconnect repeatedly to clean the terminals, then apply dielectric grease to exclude moisture.
