Plum picked up some steel 2008 17" steelies for me as shown above. Couldn't pass up that deal. They were local to him.

Also, I officially started tear down last night. 5 months later....

I did not get far but hey, its a start.
I have pulled the e-brake cables, upper links and 3rd shock off the 8.8. I had some torch problems. I need to get that issue resolved so I can cut the shocks off and heat the 12pt DS bolts.
You cant get an impact on the upper links with the body in the OEM position. A few whacks with the BFH and the impact fit. Got to love wheelers.

Not much movement. My wife is about to pop with our 2nd kid any day now. Been busy getting everything ready and what not. Been working a ton too but I put a stop to that. I am an 8-5 guy now.

But I have been working in the garage at night. Been picking up some important tools that I used to borrow from various friends. Also have been organizing it. Got a few free shelves from work and what not.

I got a 220V welder last fall of CL. Finally got a tank for it last weekend. I still have not used it. I plan on trying it out this Friday night.

Got my free set of torch tanks all set up finally. Got some mid range gauges. Last thing I need is a new blade for the band saw.

You may be wheelin before me at this rate....

I got 2 hours of free time today. So I took the 8.8 out.

Awaiting PlumCrazy to pick it up

The only thing I havnt removed is the OEM shocks. The upper bolts are heavily rusted. I didnt deal with it yet.

All the "weight" that was removed

Rolled a 42 up to it. What did I get myself into.

For now I am going to rock rear leaves to get back on the trail faster. I will link it some time this decade. This is the 10.5 sitting under it.

Going to order some u-bolts tonight and maybe get the new perches on before the holiday.

Also, we were surprised with a daughter earlier this month. My wife was convinced we were having another boy. All are doing great.

Haha. Thanks guys!

Heading to Summit Racing after work today to get u-bolts since the kit I originally ordered is on back order until August.... I want to get the axle set somewhere so I have a "zero" to go off of. Also need to get the 42s on wheels so I have an idea of how beast this thing will be. I should also move the Mounty to my other bay that has the 12ft door vs the 8ft tall door in the current bay....

Then the IFS will go bye bye.

FYI (more for my future reference) 05+ Sterling 10.5 Axle Tubes are 3.5" DIA.
