1998 Ranger Stepside V8 Swap info needed

Hey guys and gals :) ok heres the seechuation lol.

I have a 98 Ranger stepside 3.0 with a 5 speed, Im going to do a V8 Swap,Im sick of MAF sensors, Oxygen sensors, all the stupid wiring, emmissions ect ect. and I cant seem to find all the answers im looking for on the forum.

V8 Im using is the 289 HiPo out of my 67 Mustang Fastback, its being replaced with a 390.



Questions:

1.What motor mounts would I need to use with the 289, can I purchase new aftermarket mounts?

2.Any ford exhaust manifolds can I use, any specific headers?

3.Will the stock 3.0 radiator work? If not what radiator should I get.

4.TRANSMISSION, right now my ranger is a 5spd, how easy is it to use a T-5 and im also thinking about a C4 auto.

5.Will the stock driveshaft work?

6.GAUGES, right now my truck wasnt build with a factory Ford Tach, can I get a gauge cluster out of a XLT plug it up to my truck and work, if not what mods do i need to do.

7. SUSPENSION, I have already had brand new upper and lower control arms, ball joints and inner and outter tie rods replaced, will the stock suspension handle a V8 well?

Carbed 289 is basically same swap as carbed 302/5.0....... check out the stickies at the top. Your questions will be answered there :)

If you do have a "true" Hi-Po motor, it's worth more than your truck.
1.) For mounts, there are no after market mounts made, have to use the BrianB mounts or fab some up.
2.) With your year, kind of limited to the cast iron Explorer manifolds or the expensive Torque Monster headers
3). Not sure about the 3.0L radiator, most find the 4.0L good.
4). Either trans has been used with not much problems. The T-5 would need the common hydrualic clutch set-up.
5.) Driveshaft is the last thing to worry about, get the motor/trans located and then see what will work.
6-7) Going to pass on
8.) Front will handle the little extra weight in most cases, might get 1/2-1" drop if any.
Your 7.5 rearend can last if not too much power and don't beat on it. Easy to swap in a 8.8 instead
Hope you like wiring! Some have done the carb swap into the late model but can't remember who, have to do a good search or hope someone pops in that has done that.
