hello,i've read the tech page got explorer mounts and plates to block, however the mounts are angled down.the truck is 2 wheel drive and i guess the tech page is 4 wheel drive, anybody run into this deal??

it's a 1998 2.5L ranger (2x4) and i'm using a 5.0 with 98 explorer 5.0 mounts & plates.

thanks,nick

Yes, most people use custom plates for 1998+ coil spring trucks.

There's a guy named "BrianB" who did a design, some sort of stepped plate. He finally said it's okay to distribute his drawing for free, but I've never seen them poster here or on RPS.

I'm sure someone here has a copy, or can give you some tips.

Had to do some digging but think these are the ones you need. Brians design used the optinal bent design in the right corner but most people don't have access to a brake that will bend that thick of material in that tight of a bend. I also found some info from BrianB on some other good info. Dasfinc had some pictures of them in his build but the links don't work anymore.

thanks so much for those drawings! I have some drop hpm made mustang mounts that are at a perfect angle,so that's my start point.need to drop the rack a bit but also have a stang hpm bump steer kit to use. I'll click some pics tommorow & hopefully down load them on the site.

thanks.

I can't seem to find a pic of the 'stepped' side, just the pic of it just starting to be cut out of a solid piece of metal.

MAC!!! I still have your CPS Tool, PM me your address if you could so I can get it back to you :( It helped tremendously!

If the interest in these is great enough (And with BrianB's permission, gotta email him) I can talk to my machine shop guy into making a batch of them if people are interested?

Dan,
Don't worry about Brian, he gave permission to use them, not sure about commercial use though. I had his number at one time. It's like them intake plates I was selling, just did it for them that wanted a better looking intake plate, probably not even breaking even on them. That's for the correct info over at RPS one which side was which and what the correct mount numbers were, fixed the drawings to show that.
Living up here next to Green Bay, it's hard to say it but Go Bears! Lots of adult beverage going down here this week-end.

I wouldn't be looking to 'profit' either, but I'm noticing more and more interest in the ranger community over the past year on this swap due to the increased availability of cheap 98+ Coil-sprung 2wd trucks, and would love to help other members pull off what I did far easier than it was for me.

I would love one of those plates still... but I can't help but want a trickflow or edelbrock intake, even if its just for minimal gains, they look bad ass :icon_thumby:
