I have a 1998 Mazda B2500. Just before Thanksgiving 2013, at around 240,000 miles, I had my local Ford dealership install a remanufactured 2.5 liter engine in my truck, which I was told came with a 3 year, unlimited mileage warranty.
Well, by the time of my first oil change at 5000 miles, I had already added 3 extra quarts of oil. I mentioned this to the service center, to which they just shrugged and didn't seem to think it was an issue. Well, with almost 1000 more miles on it, I am about to add another quart already! There are no leaks anywhere, but when I start the truck after it has been sitting anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour, there is a good sized smoke cloud of blue that comes from the tail pipe. Sound like valve stem seals? Anyway, dealership says pretty much tough luck, seals are not covered under this warranty. I'm going to have to pay...!!! Argh!!! Really? Do I have no recourse? Between the engine, clutch, front end and steering rack, I put over $6000 into my truck at that time, and nobody will do anything about it?
Does anybody have any experience here?
And for matter of interest, the old engine didn't burn oil at all... It had some leaks, but no smoke whatsoever. I replaced it because it had a couple noisy cam followers, pinged at speed, and the cost of fixing the leaks was great.
Hope someone can help?
