1998 front differental information?

I have a 1998 4wd Ranger 3.0 ex cab. I have been having some front end issuses for the past 3 months. At random times, any speed and without braking my truck will pull hard to the right momentarily. When in 4wd there is a clicking. It sounds like the cv shaft but I replaced the right cv shaft and hub within the last 10 months.
I noticed about 2 weeks ago the boot on the left cv shaft was torn. I recently started pulling the left cv shaft when half way through i noticed the right side of my differential is leaking. I dont know exactly what the part of the differental is called so its difficult to find any information. Because the differential is offset to the left, there is an extension that goes to the right cv shaft. It seems to be leaking from the end of that extension. I have no idea what this extension is called and if it is the main problem or not but im guessing it is. Does anyone know much about this type of differential or where i can learn more about it? www.fordpartsdiscounted.com has exploded views for most of the parts they sell but they dont seem to show the part im describing. I am working outside in the snow so if any one knows the name of the part or how easy (if possible) is it to replace the seal at the end of the extension and if its prone to malfuction I would appreciate any help.
 
That's just the axle tube (part of the housing).

What you need are the axle shaft seals that go on each end of the housing.
 
Yea, its just axle seals.
 
i have never done any work on a diff. the farthest i got was when my rearend went and i pulled diff. cover and saw the ring gear was destroyed so i just replace the whole rear end(axle, housing, hubs, etc.) instead of messing with the ring and pinion. when i replaced that cv chaft i didnt take a close look at what i pushed it into. so as far as the axle seals go i have no idea. how easy are they to replace? any special tools required?
