1998 Ford Ranger

i wonder if you can still get a wrangler with no ac. every wrangler i have ever owned had factory ac in it. 87, 93, 07, and the current 03. the 87 and 93 had the ones that is bolted to the bottom of the dash but those suckers worked and the kids complained it was to cold in the back seat when it was on for a while. the 87 was a laredo and hte 93 was a sahara. the 07 was a sport 4 door and the ac was pretty good. the 04 is a sport also but since it got rolled, its got some issues sealing so the ac is not working as well as it did when we first got it in july.

this little 04 ranger will freeze your butt out though

The wrangler Build and price tool shows AC is a $1500 option.

So you can buy a $40,000 truck with no AC if you want....

dude!! thats nuts

i know back when they had a four cylinder option, they came with no ac but since they dropped the four cylinder, i assumed they all came with ac now. oh well, shows what that gets me

I haven't looked lately in detail, but the base Jeep Wrangler Sport has a soft top, hand crank windows, manual adjust mirrors, manual transmission, no A/C, etc. I doubt if you could find a Wrangler like that on a dealer's lot, but in theory you can buy a new Jeep Wrangler that's optioned a lot like a 1966 Jeep CJ5 (plus mandatory safety equipment like air bags)

Problem is, they still cost $30k, if you could get something like that for under $20k I bet you would see a lot more.

now mahindra sells the old cj5s on their tractor lots. too bad only for off road use. they do come with a diesel though, which is awesome

Yeah, those are awesome. There was a big lawsuit with jeep when they started selling them here. They had to agree to sell them configured in a way that they can not be registered for road use.

I think they are still using the same blueprints from when they were contracted to make them for Ford or something like that.

Although in some states, if you add in some mirrors, horn whatever else, they can be registered for road use.

There's a guy selling a nice 98 Ranger XLT here in NY. He wants $5800 has 85k miles. 2 Wheel Drive. I think it's a 4.0. The AC works good he said.
