Hey all.

So I've been wanting to lift my ranger a little bit. I won't be doing anything extreme, some off-roading but i don't plan on getting any air. Lol. I think two inches of lift would be plenty. I'm also getting new shocks soon so those will be replaced. I have the 15 inch wheels with 28"ish tires.

My question for all of you is: What is the best way to accomplish what I want to do? What will I need to buy? And will I need new wheels? I want to keep things as cheap as possible (who doesn't) and I'd also like to have a guesstimate overall price.

Thanks guys!

body lift will be cheapest, you could easily run 31's on that

junk yard 2" blocks for the rear axle and coil spacers up front will give u 2" of lift and fairly cheap

u require at least 2" to run 31"s. so that would be good.

a 3"body lift will be easier and depends on prices even cheapier. those 31"s would look nice with a 3" bl too

I would do the coil spacers, its worth the work. Body lifts in my opinion are ugly and inferior to any suspension lift

going coil spacers will require longer shocks, at least 4x4 specs shocks, but will deff improve suspension flex.

the body lift will give a nice look, but no flex. it wont mess the ride comfort tho(bumpy ride)

im not a fan of body lifts cause of how much frame you can see below the truck it makes it look fat. plus the space between the frame and body looks bad without gap guards. I like the spindles cause they keep the same ride and give it a cool stance, and they are the cheaper compared to a spring lift. but if you really dont want to spend the money go for the body lift

If your not going for anything big just a 2in lift would work great. A set of 235/75/15 or 31in tires would work for you as you already have the rims.

I want to avoid body lifts too because it does nothing for the suspension.

How would a 3 inch lift be easier and maybe cheaper? What's a price estimate for a 2 inch or 3 inch lift?

its easier compared to susp lift cuz its just basically unbolt the cab and bed, add the spacer and bolt back.
cheapier cuz it goes for around 150$. a susp lift will require new shocks, at least for the front.
compressing the coils is a pita if u dont have the propper tools.

check ebay for coil spacers and maybe the rear lift blocks. those can be found in junkyards too.

Haha, nevermind. I thought you meant a 3 inch suspension lift. Lol. Whoops!!

Yeah, I want a suspension lift. I'll be getting new shocks soon anyhow so those dont matter all that much. So, What do I need for a 2 in suspension lift and what's a price range?

as for a price range i dont know.
u can get 2" coil spacers for the front. they usually pop for cheap on ebay.
and like i said lift blocks are available in junk yards.

for a 2" susp lift ull need:
2" 4x4 factory lift blocks and U bolts.
coil spacers, the height u want. 2" is the max u can go without upper control arm/ball joint issues.
and at least new longer front shocks(4x4 specs will work fine). sice the stock ones will reach the travel limit everytime the susp decompresses from a bump. and thats really annoying. the rear may work, but it wont flex as if it has larger shocks.

Mine has a 3 inch bl and I don't think the frame is exposed as much as you think it is after the bl. I added custom made gap guards in the fender wells a friend made up for me. They are heavy duty and well mounted. My bl came with the bumber relocation brackets and they are heavy duty ones. I did the bl on 89 my BII and my 83 Ranger. They all were from PA which I think makes the best bl in the business.

mine barely shows the frame.
i still need to raise the rear bumper tho
