Hi, just wanted to get some thoughts on what this issue could be.
I'm working on replacing the intake gaskets (and fuel rail gaskets) on my 98 ranger 4.0.
This truck has 205,000 miles and the dreaded p0171 code also runs rough. Done wasting money at the dealer so I ran a smoke test and I found an air leak coming from the upper intake gaskets.
So I started disassembling, pulled the upper intake off and found what looks like oil and coolant mix in the passages.
Any idea on what this could be? I ordered lower intake gaskets as well so hopefully i don't have to go as far as to order head gaskets 🤞
I haven't noticed any coolant mixed with the oil in the pan.

Probably just some condensation. I doubt it's coolant. I did this same upper intake gasket change at about 150k. I'm at 225k now and no issues since. Only did the upper plenum gaskets.
