I don't have time to introduce myself(Eric) My 1997 has the older I-Beam frame and 2.3. Will the newer 1998 2.5 4cl drop right into the 1997 frame with nothing more than a motor mount swap and computer swap?.. The guy is leaving the entire engine wiring harness complete.

I already bough it for 300 dollars.. complete 105,000 mile engine with 5 spd transmission for 300 dollars. I heard it run and it is a sweet running motor.. I really hope it will work in my 1997 frame.

Both trucks are 4cld 2wd 5 spd .

Any help with this is so appreciated.. I hope I didn't waste my money on a motor that will never work in my truck..

thanks guys.

if you have the tranny that goes to the new motor and computer/wiring harness you could theoretically fab new mounts and drop the engine tranny in the trk and then figure the driveshaft. as far as a direct swap/bolt in i honestly couldnt tell you.

I have the whole engine and tranny from the new motor, yes. I read that the 95 to 97 2.3 block is the same as the 2.5 block, so I thought just putting on my 2.3 motor mounts onto the new 2.5 and drop it in.

Pfft probably not that easy ..as usual .

Yeah it's that easy actually. I did it!

Its the same motor as the 97 2.3, it just has a different crank and rods. You dont have to get a 2.5 computer or anything, just bolt your 2.3 stuff onto the 2.5 and call it a day.
