Hi all,
I recently purchased a ranger with a blown motor. I bought another 4.0 from and explorer to put in. Both engines ran before they were swapped. Now engine cranks but wont start. All sensors and accessories were moved to the new engine as well. I'm not getting spark and I don't smell fuel out exhaust some injectors might not be working either. Tach is also not working. Does anyone have any ideas, I'm sure it will be something simple.

welcome!!

i have no idea but the guys who have that engine or worked on them will know.

Welcome to TRS :)

Make sure the Crank sensor was plugged back in, its at the front of the engine at about 10:00 next to the crank pulley
It wire runs across lower intake and down passed the water pump to the Crank Sensor

The crank sensor times the spark and fuel injectors, also provides the tach signal

Simple thing to look for
Turn on the key, CEL(check engine light) should come on, that means computer has powered up
Crank engine, CEL should go OFF, that means computer is getting a timing pulse from Crank sensor, no timing pulse and no spark or injectors

Good work (y)

Thanks for the update and THE FIX :)
