1997 gas tank in a 1983 truck?

Will a gas tank from a '97 fit in an '83 truck? Both are regular cab short beds. I'm thinking of a 4.0 swap into an '83 truck and figured this would be the easiest way to get the high pressure fuel pump. Plus I can get the '97 tank with a 6 month old fuel pump in it for $30.
