hi i recentley bought a 1997 2.3 5 speed ranger with about 203,000 miles. It ran fine for a while but then i noticed a miss every now and then but it would just be a few seconds and then it would clear up and be fine. It has only been getting worse since then but it will still clear up and be fine. It was mising realy bad last night so when i got home i put the hood up and could see blue spark coming from the #4 plug wire so today i replaced the wires and had the check engine light turned off (code was cylinder 4 misfire). i thought this had fixed the problem but a few miles later it returned but the check engine light isnt on. i have bought plugs and plan on putting them in soon. i have also replaced the air filter. when the truck starts to miss it is usually at cruising speeds in 4th and 5th gear and will clear up for a while if i downshift to 3rd and floor it. if anyone has had a similar problem and figured it out or know of anything to try please let me know! Thanks in advance!
