I have a 96 ranger with 4.0 and 4x4. The speedomer has quit working and I have:
Replaced VSS on transfer case
Replaced spedometer in cluster
Replaced senesor on top of rear end

When it is cold out, the speedometer will work for a mile or so and then quit.

I tried checking the sensor with a drill and watching the speedomer but that has proved nothing. I am at my wits end trying to figure this out and the truck is due for inspection by the end of the month.

Could the problem be with the gear in the transfercase?

I have found it almost impossible to track wiring because of everything being in a harness.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I have learned alot from this forum already and this is my first need for help! Please help.

Thank you,

Erich
