The pulley on the Auxiliary shaft (the timing pulley that supposedly does nothing on my truck) seems to have thrown a bearing. It just wobbles around on the bolt. Well i was realized to find this was the cause of the noise coming from the engine instead of it being messed up valves or something. Or so i thought.....

I figured hey all i need to do is replace the pulley and I'm back on the road. Yeah the thing is how do i get the bolt out. the middle of the pulley which I'm assuming used to hold a bearing is just a huge hole now and the bolt just spins on what I'm assuming is a shaft its screwed in to.

So the question is how can I get the bolt out of the aux shaft to change the pulley out.

No, it does not do nothing, that pulley is what turns the oil pump, it also has a cam position sensor on it.

Ok so the answer as to how to get the bolt out was and impact wrench. No though the shaft of the oil pump is missing the key so guess ill need a new one.

And thnx for the info given.

Stick a long screwdriver through the holes on the sprocket, and then loosen the bolt.

You can also keep the timing belt tight while loosening the bolt. Once you get the bolt loose (hand tight) then loosen the belt enough to slide the sprocket off of the front of the oil pump.

And replace the bearings, same simple home made tool works for both removal and install.
