just told me that the starter wont even engage, so i told him to try a new battery, have the starter and alternator tested

I'd try hooking another battery to the toy with a set of jumper cables, if you have to and try the windows and lights before i pull the starter and alt off.

have you checked ALL the fuses?

i havent checked any thing yet, i told him to try another battery. but apparently this kid can change a clutch but cant install a battery..

im gonna check all the fuses, throw in a spare battery, if that dont do it ill test the starter. i told him to take the stereo out cuz its probably crossed with the wrong wires.

I'd check the square box shaped fuses under the hood. They aren't a normal small thin fuse they are in the shape of a box under the hood. I think I had the exact same problem. I remember shorting something out (I think I was installing my stereo too) and one of those fuses burned out.

yeah for the doors and lights and such im assuming its a burnt fuse, and im also assuming he didnt hook up a ground which drained the battery.

i believe a stereo ground can do that? ive never ran a stereo without one so idk haha.

i told him i refuse to work on it untill he can man up and do the simple crap himself. its not hard to take a starter to autobone or check some fuses.

if the starter and everything else was working before the stereo went in I would start by taking the stereo out and looking at the quality of the wiring job of the install. then I would look at what else is on the screwed up circuit.

Not everybody gets the proper wiring kit to install a new stereo and you pay for that later.

was the battery unhooked at all? did any of the ten thousand wires hooked to the battery get disturbed? if those don't go back right then you get the same symptoms.

If a ground was not hooked up then the circuit is not complete and cannot drain the battery.

go back to the starting point.
