1995 ranger 4L 5sp dome light stays on when turned off

Neat little problem started last night. Opened the driver door to look for a spare 25amp fuse on the fuse panel door. Closed the cab door and dome light stayed on. Waited 10 minutes, stayed on. Turn key to accessories, goes out. Start truck light stays out. No door open light on the dash so seems like the door sensor is working? I checked the switch on the light with truck running it turns on each bulb on off independently like it should. Switch on the dash turns the light on and off when truck is running. As soon as truck is turned off, light comes on and stays on. I have to disconnect battery. Did the door switch malfunction so it’s not opening the circuit?

I am looking at the diagrams, and it is pointing to the GEM module. Do you have dampness in your carpet from a windshield leak you do not know about? See if the GEM has any water damage. Here's a diagram, you do have a interior light relay somewhere.

or the dimmer switch is stuck on

as in cargo light....if the cargo light works on and off still it might just be the relay is stuck

As someone stated, turn the dimmer dial all the way down till it clicks and then back up to see if anything changes. I think my gem module is under the plastic cover of the stick shift

it does seem like a gem issue. unplug the relay, if it clicks you know that it is being held open by the gem.

you can interupt that signal via switch or the light side to turn the light out.

I think under the dash in a block with a cover on it right side of the drivers foot well
