I have a 7.5 Rear with 3.45 Gears..
I want to Swap to an Explorer Rear
With 8.8 Axle with 4.10 Gears...

My 7.5 has Manual Hubs, but the
All (Gen. 1) Explorers have Auto
Hubs (I want). I want to swap to
a Bigger/Better/Beefer Rear + 4.10s.

I want to know if I can just Drop
the rear in n go??? I dont like
the manual Hubs either..

Thank You,
Mike Tech

rear axles do NOT have manual hubs or any other hub.

Do a search, there are numerous threads about this type of questions.

Rear axles shouldn't have any hubs... Other than that, search... this has been covered a bajillion times... Look in the Tech Library... There is lots to read there...

"Front Differential" Sorry.. The Term Rear 95% of the time is ment for
the "REAR AXLE".. Sorry I Ment FRONT AXLE..

So what exactly was your question?

Can you just put the ex 8.8 in and go? yes but no 4x4 because the front if not swapped will be a different ratio and will most likely cause something to violently explode.

Are you talking about swapping front axles or just the pumpkins, and you will have to swap in a few things if you go to auto hubs from manuals.

You will need to cut off the Explorer spring mounts and weld on generic spring mounts.
Explorers have the springs under the axle and Rangers have the springs over the axle, so the mounts are different.
Gen 1 Explorers can have either manual hubs or auto hubs, although most have auto hubs.
The Explorer front axle is stronger but will require that you shorten the front driveshaft.
A How-To is in the Tech Library.

I belive he means the Front Axle.. A D35 if Im Correct...

Thanx,

I wanna know if I have to Redo Mounts like the 95-01 Disc 8.8
Rear Axle from the Gen 2 Explorers... Gen 1 Front Axle n Gen 2
Rear Axle... I found a Gen 1 Explorer with 4.10s in the Front
Axle, I can easly get a Disc Rear Axle with 4.10s in it..

Thank You,
Mike Tech

I think I already answered your question then.

For the Gen 1 Front Differential you have to Cut n Grind to
put into a 95 Ranger???

Will the Auto Hubs work when I Push my button(turn my Knob)
for 4x4?? I have Manual Hubs Right now... Have to Run Wires??

Thank You,
Mike Tech

They'll work if they're good. Auto hubs suck and rarely work though, I don't understand your desire to have them.

you dont want to swap to the auto hubs, very unreliable! if thats what your asking? there are no wires that go to the hubs either, but their not a direct swap either. i went from auto hubs to manual hubs and there is a conv. kit. keep the man. hubs, youll be glad you did!

The auto hubs will work, they simply catch when power is fed to the axles...when they work or don't break. The insides are plastic and prone to failure.

While your '95 Ranger may have a Dana 35, it is more likely that is has the Dana 28/35 hybrid axle and you may have to shorten the front driveshaft.
