hey guys i'm new to the forum (my first post). So i drive a 1995 Ranger 2wd manual and im looking into getting a lift kit without breaking the bank (around 500 would be great) ive searched around and i cant find any posts similar to mine. well ive been looking at this:

http://store.fatbobsgarage.com/ford-ranger-2wd-1983-1997-4-lift-kit-p1856.aspx

If i were to get this is there anything else i would need to make things work? can anyone attest to the quality? thanks.

hey man, I have a 1995 2wd Ranger too. I put this kit on my truck and it worked great! Everything lined up great and i loved the stance. My advice is make sure you have a good angle grinder to grind out the rivets, a can of PB blaster to soak the bolts that need to come off, a good pitman arm puller (that thing is a pain in butt to get off), extended front brakelines will be needed for the front, as well as a way to extend the rear. Also gears and tires, if you go 31's, 4.10 gears would be good, 4.56 are best. Look for an 8.8 rear end with 4.10's and you should be good to go. I recommend if you want to go 4.56 gears, use an 8.8 rear. 4.56 gears(in a 7.5" rear) + lock-rite = blown up rear end. Good Luck!

FTSK95 pretty much has it. Some people have said thats its a good kit for the price as long as you dont just beat the ever living hell out of it. Its not the best kit out there but its the best priced one you will find. Im thinking of getting it as well. What motor do you have? With a smaller motor like a 2.3 you might need to go deeper than 4.10 but for a bigger 4.10 is perfect with 31s. I love my 4.10s. Drives like it did when it was stock.

Hey thought I would jump in and say I have a lift kit for sale. Its the PRO COMP 5in lift, I ran it for about 8months loved it, but went a different way with the truck, i have everything but the pitman arm I ended up cutting it off my pump. It didn't wanna come off.

for quick replys email me rusty133@gmail.com

Thanks

Thanks so much man. btw i have a 3.0. Yea i picked this truck up for $400 from a mechanic. So far i've invested about 200 into it (windshield, battery, and clutch). So the only thing wrong with my little $600 truck is that the side of the bed is all beat up and the fact that it sits too low to the ground!

so i just found out my rear end is 3.45 7.5 is that any good? is that adequate?

Sounds like you got a hell of a deal on it.
You would need to regear it to either 4.10 or 4.56. A lot of guys opt to just swap the axle for an 8.8 with 4.10s already in it. Gets you a stronger axle and it already has gears so you wouldnt need to change them. If you decide to go with 4.56 though you will have to change out gears even if you find an 8.8

And if you swap in an axle, you can get an Explorer axle that will allow you to have rear disc brakes and maybe even a limited slip. :icon_thumby:

But you would have to have the spring perches remounted on top of the axle because the Explorer axle has the spring under.
