1995 2wd 2.3 liter engine

Okay all i am in the market for a new ranger, looking at a 95 with the small 4 cylinder in it.

one prob, i will mainly be using this to haul stuff like quads.

my buddy is buy a dirtbike trailer

and i have a quad.













so my question is.. can i haul my atv (450lbs) and my buddies dirtbike (275lbs) with the dirtbike trailer (50lbs) give or take the weights of the 3.

so would this little 4 cylinder ranger be able to handle all of this? about 800lbs in the bed and on a hitch?

Easily.

If it has an auto trans, add another cooler and don't use OD.

5 speed, don't slip the clutch and forget about 5th gear.


You did say hitch. Don't use the bumper.

Try to find one with 4.10 gears, since you're "looking".

i also found another ranger i might actually get instead its a ext cab and it has the 3.0 engine in it.

are these good engines? he wants 2500

Depends on what you consider good... Torquey and powerful and truck-like? Then no... Indestructible, reliable and underpowered? Yes, it's a great engine... I'd rather have a 2.3L... Just my opinion though...

I really was happy with my 2000 Scab 3.0 5speed 4WD with 4.10s and 235/75/15s.

Very peppy combination.

3.73s are more common and doggy, especially with taller tires.

If it is newer and has the cam synchro, see about replacing that if it hasn't already been. When they fail it takes the oil pump's drive away and they seize.
