I have a '95 4X2 extended cab 5-speed. It's bone stock. What is considered average city and hwy fuel mileage with no load and no trailer? I can't believe the 28mpg hwy figures I've seen posted.
Thanks

my 95 gets any where from 20 to 24 at best. but its normally 20 cause my foot is always buried cause theres no power only difference is mine is a standard cab oh and i have a cherry bomb but it really dint make a difference other than it waking the motor up after about(guessing here cause i dont have a tach.) 3500 rpm

the EPA estimates for that setup are 20/26...you should be able to get close to that.

depoends how you drive them. I have a 94 pretty stock ext cab. I usually get 19-21 deliverying pizza. 24-25 on the freeway and on a good flat 55mph hwy i've seen 28. I think the best I ever did was 29, but average freeway driving for me is right around 25.

Also have a 95 single cab. Auto with OD though. I average about 19 driving like a normal person. If I keep my foot out of it, (drive like an 80 year old) the best I ever got was 25. 70 on the hi-way, forget about it! RPM's to high. Downshift's in a headwind and all incline's. RPM's about 1,500 away from redline. Mostly use it for pulling my boat with OD off. Ya don't wanna know what it get's doing that LOL.

I have a standard cab '93. With city driving I usually see 19-21mpg. I don't usually get over 25-26 mpg unless I keep it under 65 mph and use overdrive (5th).

Mine being a 93' 2.3 Reg Cab 4x4 5spd w/ 4.10's and 235's.....

I usually was able to get around 18 town 23 hwy

I replaced a cracked head and did a very thorough inspection and tune-up. I was then able to squeeze 26 hwy and about 21 in town.

For some reason my head gasket is failing. I think it may be a bad block surface to blame. My belief, is that the P.O. was pretty abusive towards the engine and I got stuck with the lemon.

But back to the subject,

What gearing does the truck have? Tires? Tune up recently?

These can all have an effect on MPG.
