Our son bought a 1994 Ranger in August. A couple of weeks ago he noticed that the gas was leaking. Ends up there were a few holes in the fuel line. Replaced that and since then it occasionally has a rough time starting.

Yesterday he was about four miles from home and it stopped running. As he was pressing the gas to accelerate, it slowed down and stopped and will not start now.

We replaced the fuel filter, thinking that it was clogged with rust from the lines. First time we have ever done this. Is there anything more to changing the filter (to prime the system or something?). They did check and there is spark.

Thanks!

check to see if the timing belt broke. if the belt is fine spray starter fluid into the throttle body or pout 1/4 cup of gas into it and see if it fires up......if it fires up you have a fuel issue and need to start diagnosing it.....does the pump come on? you can do a fuel pressure test or carefully press the shrader (looks like a valve on a tire) valve in at the fuel rail and see if you have pressure. check the fuel inertia switch on the interior fire wall?......check the fuel pump relay?
