I have a 1994 Ranger-- extended cab with the 2 piece driveshaft. I was checking out the carrier bearing-- the bearing is fine , but the rubber housing around the bearing is bad-- loose about 1/4 inch. I am getting vibrations at 65 when towing a small trailer. (T:icon_thumby:he load is positioned correctly, tires are all fine).

My question is-- does anyone know of a 2-piece rubber bushing that goes around the existing bearing?? That would make the install a heck of a lot easier!!

Thanks.

Or get a one piece driveline. The driveline and the carrier bearing were the same price here. You'll have to replace the carrier bearing in the future so why not eliminate it.

Yah they want big bux for the bearing and SKF aint what it used to be, either. I keep hearing that the one piece is the way to go. What yrs and such to mine for the parts? I had the one on the Rat off and apart. The bearing was dry and noisy, but the budget was blown already. I re-packed the bearing and it is smooth as silk. The rubber mount is toast . It has a 1/4" too much room in the mount. I only feel it when I back off the gas. I am thinking about taking up the slack with an old belt or something. The mismatched sets of tires dont help and the front shocks are shot, so I can't really speak to vibration, But is goes good enough for the occasional use I give it. :D

After 98? I believe. Make sure its steel. There a write up in the tech section

That carrier bearing is 12 bucks on Rockauto for the cheap one, 53 bucks for the expensive SKH one, and 35 for a Timken. I am not sure what a junkyard would sell a used driveshaft for doing a one piece swap, but the Pull a Part fork lift drivers here in Indy don't care too much about how they handle the cars and most of the driveshafts are bent on the rangers that are put out in the yard.

I never checked rock auto. Idk why. When I went to the jy I had to wait 35 minutes while they guy pulled it off the truck.
