1994 Ford Ranger 4.0 l that blows coil packs

I have 1994 ford ranger that keeps blowing the coil pack in the middle of the coil pack. I haven"t been able to figure it out. Does anyone have any ideas.

This isn't the first time we've heard of this. I don't know that we ever found a solution.

Possible ground fault is what my foreman said today when I asked him.

Check the black wire to the PCM connector, then check your plugs and wires.

I would check all major grounds even though it may not seem as if it could possibly be related.

found this before.......

i ran into this coil burning before...found the wiring harness on drivers fender had a wire rub through...if i remember right there is a small brkt around the starter solenoid....it ended up being the power wire for the coil...."blows them up real goood!!!!" hope this helps

In reference to the coil burning pack on my 1994 ranger

I have changed the coil pack and took the wiring harness off and replaced it. Im in need of a used computer for this truck if any has one laying around. It is a 1994 xlt 4x4 v6 with a 5 speed in it. I really don
t won"t to buy a new computer.

Pull the old ECM and get the Ford number off it. It will be (xxxx-12A650-xx)

This will make it easier to match one for ya. If you throw one in that's not compatible with your set up it may run crappy.
