I have a 1994 ford ranger 2.3l 2wd and i was wondering if it were possible to put a 1997 ford ranger intake manifold onto it to give it a horsepower boost.
Any other ideas on things to install to make a bit more horsepower or a bit snappier.
Thanks,
Mike

I've been doing the same research and from what I have found the 97 intake is slightly different. I think with some slight mods you could make it work. I found my biggest gain in exhaust. getting the cat off and I cut my factory header at the collector and welded a 2.5" collector on. Seamed to really wake it up. The other option is turbo. I picked up a universal turbo kit on ebay for $900. I am currently working on a header as there is no header out there for the 8 plug head. With injectors and everything in sop far I have $1500 into the setup. I'm looking at running between 4 and 6 lbs of boost which should keep it reliable and drivable.

Wait...so let me get this straight. You think there is no header for turboing the Baby Eight? If that's the case, why have mid-'80s Mustangs with the 2.3s, especially the SVOs, run turbo, considering that Ford put a turbo on the 2.3 from the factory? Same with the Turbocoupe motors. So, dude, I don't understand why you have to fabricate a header for turbo, when they already exist. And besides--as far as I can tell, the turbo manifold for the Mustang 4-plug head is the same as the 8-plug head. At least, the non-turbo head looks the same, with the same bolt pattern.

But hey, what do I know...considering I'm going to sooner or later turbo my truck too. :)
