Quick question about the exhaust on my 94 4.0 OHV.

On the connection between the catalytic converter and the y pipe, I have three apparent (hard to tell from the rust) bolts coming from the cat, into the y pipe flange and are locked down by nuts on the y pipe side of the flange connection.

Are either the bolt, or nut welded or fixed in place in any manner?

The bolts, nuts and threads are so rusted that disconnection is not going to happen, so I was just going to cut the bolts off but I don't know which side if either is locked down (as is normal with Oem exhaust systems). Need to know to know Which side I need to cut off.

I had a stupid little scribble drawing I made but my iphon isn't letting me upload it.

Thank you.

So in theory I can finish cutting the bolt heads off and punching them through to the y-pipe side.

No, they aren't welded...

They look for all the world like miniature lug studs once you drive them out.

It's generally best to use a solid backup while you are driving them out because it generally takes enough force to drive them out to bend the flange in the process...
