Hey guys this is my first thread here. Just purchased a 1993 Ford Ranger Splash. It's a 5 speed manual trans. 4 banger. It still needs to get front suspension and rear leaf springs. But in a year or so I plan on swapping out the 4cyl for a V8. Just wondering if anyone has done a v8 conversion on a 93 ranger before? Im not too familiar with trucks and just know the basics of stuff. I want to start the engine from scratch till it's completed then swap out the 4cyl. But I got a few questions

1. How much will I be looking at cash wise? I plan on building a Ford 302 so what will I be needing to get for everything else? Tranny, exhaust, suspension etc?
2. It's gonna be a daily driven truck so what can I do make it super quiet? Any mods for things like that?
3. Is it possible to keep a project this big under 5 grand?

Also I live in MB, Canada so if that helps price out stuff, cool.
Finally I know I've left out ALOT of stuff here, so if you have any questions please ask!
Thank you very much!

Great thanks alot Mac! Appreciated!

Welcome Hunter! I'm looking long term as to whether to drop a 347 in or a supercharger on the 4.0L. Either way the best way to success is planning! Read the tech articles here and search the V8 swap threads. The biggest roadblock will be the wiring harness. You want that part of the plan complete before ya pull the old mill. Google the hell out of V8 swaps for Rangers. Keep notes on everything.

I have seen and heard horror stories on rush jobs and people who didn't know what the hell they were doing. If you see success stories don't be afraid to PM them for questions!

A lot of thought and research by some of the greatest minds in the Ranger world have gone into this question. We have determined that the quantum state of the 93 Splash makes it impossible to put a GAS V-8 into that particular truck in a universe that contains Higg-Bozon particles.

A 7.3 Powerstroke should work well though.

No, I don't have any idea what half of this post means.

use the search function. a better question to ask is if anyone has done a v8conversion on gen 3 rangers (93-97). and yes its been done haha
