i have a 1993 ford ranger 2wd 4 cylinder 5 speed 155,000 miles. and my truck wont start i have a 12volt + new batter, new starter, new starter slynoid. and i turn my keys everything powers on but i dont hear anything no click and the starter doesnt kick on but when i put a screw driver on the syloid it starts right up ive replaced the syloind twice and it holds a current cuz i tested it with a volt meter i cant think of anything else do try and ideas guy thanks, jeff

Sounds like it could be an ignition relay to me. Might want to start there.

See if you are getting anything in Start. When you try to crank it over does the radio cut out?

i replaces the ignition relay. and all dash light come on when i turn the key including the radio and annoying seatbelt/door ajar chime

You aren't getting 12v to that fender solenoid then.

Have you tried wiggling the crap out of the ignition switch?

I can send you the schematics for that, PM me your e-mail address.

For the starter to engage, you have 12v always at the starter, straight from the Bat+ (big cable).

When you turn the key to Crank, 12v from Ign switch powers the fender solenoid, which must be well grounded (these are the small posts on the solenoid, 12v w/ key to Crank and ground). That power and ground energizes the fender solenoid, sending power to the starter (small cable) making the starter solenoid click over, pushing the drive gear into the flywheel, while making a large electrical connection inside the starter which powers the starter motor (the big cable from Bat+).

Did that make sense?

i understood the what you said Earl43P. i do have a 12 volts going to the ignition relay, starter synloid. im starting to think its the ignition switch. i belive its under the steering colum but my shop manuel does give me a good picture it appears to be the white harness correct?

and ill probly take lethal-threats advice to and replace the clutch pedal switch but im not sure were that is either?

wow

i cant belive i figured it. turns out theres a swith on the clutch pedal with a spring inside that was stuck so i freed the stuck spring. And what do u know started right up. it must of been sending signals to the computer not to turn over. im so thankful for your guys advice and effort. later, Jeff

Yeah, it could be any of the dozen complicated things we came up with, or it could be something stupid simple like a bad neutral safety switch. Which ever you prefer.
