so i checked the door sticker on my 1993 ranger and it says i have 3.08 gears. so theres a spot i read on here that said the lowest that d35s come with is 3.27s. so this must be a different door? and no theres no axle tags
thanks

if it's a 2.3 or 3.0 engine it most likely has the hybrid front axle.

its a 3.0

Hmmmm..... I bought my Ranger brand new in July of '99. My door sticker does not have that info on it. I have the info on my rear end. It says what came stock in it. It was a 3:73 and I added a 4:10 about 1 /2 years later after I lifted it. I have my window sticker still in my war chest. I will did it out later this week to see if it has any info I forgot about.

Its pretty easy to tell the difference between a hybrid and regular d35, my 3.0 has a real one

in gen3's the only trucks with 3.08's were a few, rather rare 4.0 2wd's.

on a 3.0 truck (2wd or 4x4) the tallest axle ratio they were built with was 3.45, though 4x4 3.0's were mostly built with 3.73's
(as is my 1993 3.0 4x4)

If your 3.0 4x4 has a "Real" D35 is almost certainly has 3.73 gears.

I've heard many reports of Hybred 3.73's but until someone places one at my feet I'll believe they are as common as Sasquatch, the Chupacabra and the Loch Ness Monster.

The only reason dana made the hybred diff was because Ford was well stocked up with a supply of 3.45 and 4.10 gears for the 7.5" rear axle.

Otherwise it would have been easier to either switch ALL rangers to the 8.8" axle or make 3.55 gears for the 7.5"

You are an encyclopedia.

I took a few pics and some video of one once, but it was all fuzzy and out of focus. It's hard to tell that that is what it really was.

Like mine! Well till I tore them out and replaced them with 4.10s.

So my truck is a rarity? I used to see these things pretty commonly in Galesburg before I joined the Army. Most of which had 3.08's and 10" rear drums. Never did see one with an L/S though....

yea im not selling her now, and i just found out she was a 93 a couple days ago because the owner said it was 94 but when i got the registration i seen it was 93.
someday when i get a 5spd 3.0 4x4 trans ill bring her to my buddys house to do the swap, i wont do it at my garage cause i know i would take it apart and get pissed off an never put it back together lol
my old b2 has a 7.5 with 3.73s, im gonna swap in my b2 axle to see if its any better with the 3.73s (so ill know that she couldnt of had 3.73s before) and if she is any better then ill start searching for 3.73s for a d35. and i think my d35 is the hybrid, so ill have to put the new 3.73s i find in my exploder diff, because the one i got now still only has 3.55s
