1992 ranger frame same as 4x4 frame

Is the 2wd frame on a 1992 reg cab ranger the same as a 4x4 ranger. I am thinking of doing a solid axle up front if possible. Or else .... this transmission is just not worth fixing on these 4-banger rangers.

The main portion of the frame is the same. However, the engine cross member is different on a 4wd frame.

If you are doing a SAS, then a 2wd frame would be fine.

The front upper spring towers or mounting brackets on the frame are different from 2wd to 4wd.
