I am currently trying to lift my ranger the cheapest way possible.

what would be the best way?

could I replace the shocks & coil springs with some from a larger vehicle in the front somehow to get 3 inches of lift?

i found a shackle mount lift for the rear leafsprings that will provide 3inches of lift... would i run into any trouble with that?

any help would be very much apreciated, this is my first time lifting a truck and i have a few ideas but i'd like some info to make sure im pointed in the right direction.

F150 coils will give you about 2in of lift and a crappy ride. Keep the shackles to 1-2in of lift. Too much is a bad thing. Look into the Belltech 6400's. They are lowering shackles for Chev full sizes but will lift a Ranger.

what else could i do to get lift in the front for as cheap as possible? this is just a play truck, not really a daily driver.

and the shakles i found at autozone are $20 and the only size they have is 3 inches. someone mentioned that i could get f-150 leaf's rebent and that would be a cheap lift... is that a bad idea?

I dont think you'll be able to 3'' of lift in the front without relocation brackets

Yep. Even 2.5in is pushing it. So stay with 2in. If you want cheap lift, go with a body lift. If you want to lift the rear with springs, look into Explorer springs. Those will give you lift.

I believe the f-150 leaf springs are 3in wide while you have 2.5in wide ones....you can swap leafs with an explorer for alittle bit and the front you can stack washers to get a max of 2in. so the shackles would give you 2 and the washers would give you about 2 thats about the best without spending rele anything

any chance you could point me torwards a cheap company that makes body lifts? if i went with a 3 inch body lift i would have to install a steering link and shifter extender, correct?

ebay or craigs list usually has them for under $100. try Summit Racing as they sometimes have good deals as well. most sell the PAW brand which is good and relatively inexpensive. you might even find a lift here on TRS in the classifieds or in the TRS parts store.
just my $.02.

I went with the Rough Country 4" for my 91' Ranger 2WD, cheapest lift for the inches in my opinion because it comes with everything you need : All front drop brackets, new coils, new pitman arm, either blocks or new leafs ran me around $420 to my door. The 3" body lift is an easy fix to fit bigger tires as well, Im adding one soon. But all in all stick to lifts/parts actually intended for your ranger, you start mixing in stuff and soon you work yourself iinto a wreck.

Did you get new leaf springs or blocks? I cant find a rough country lift for a 2wd that comes with leaf springs
